INDOPOSCO.ID – Jakarta Metropolitan Police have scheduled further witness examinations in connection with the train collision at Bekasi Timur Station. The additional witnesses include representatives of an online taxi operator as well as government officials.
Head of Public Relations for Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the plan. The examinations are set to take place on Monday (May 4, 2026) at 10:00 a.m. local time.
“Questioning of representatives from Green SM Taxi, the Public Works Agency, the Spatial Planning Agency, and the Directorate General of Railways will be conducted at Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters,” Budi Hermanto said when contacted by reporters in Jakarta on Monday.
Previously, police had questioned 24 individuals over the past three days, from April 28 to 30, 2026, regarding the collision between a long-distance train and a Commuter Line KRL at Bekasi Timur Station.
“Investigators have examined 24 individuals, and seven others are currently undergoing questioning at KCI Manggarai,” Budi said separately in Jakarta on Thursday (April 30, 2026).
Those questioned include the Head of the Train Operation Control Center (KAI), train dispatchers (PPKA), and signal officers.
“First, the KAI control center head; second, the dispatcher; third, signal personnel; fourth, the Commuter Line driver; fifth, the Argo Bromo Anggrek driver; sixth, the assistant driver of Argo Bromo Anggrek; and seventh, the controller,” he explained.
Investigators emphasized that witness examinations are ongoing and urged the public to await further developments.
“We are confident that Jakarta Metropolitan Police will handle this case procedurally, professionally, and with accountability. We will continue to provide updates,” added the former Batu Police Chief.
The incident began when an electric taxi (Green SM) stalled at the Ampera crossing and was struck by a commuter train, triggering a rear-end collision by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at Bekasi Timur Station. Police are examining four key factors: environmental conditions, road infrastructure, vehicle issues, and potential negligence by drivers or railway personnel. (dan)
