INDOPOSCO.ID – The recent increase in non-subsidized fuel prices must not have a widespread impact on the cost of essential goods for the public.
The statement was delivered by Commission VI member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rivqy Abdul Halim, in a press release on Monday (April 20, 2026).
He emphasized that the government must ensure the stability of basic commodity prices.
“The stability of essential goods such as food and other key necessities must be maintained so that people’s purchasing power is not eroded,” he said.
He acknowledged that while the decision to raise non-subsidized fuel prices may feel sudden for the public, in certain contexts such a move is difficult to avoid.
“Fuel price adjustments can be an option the government has to take. However, this policy must be carefully managed to avoid causing public unrest,” he added.
He further noted that the current price adjustments apply only to high Research Octane Number (RON) fuel, meaning they should not directly trigger a surge in the prices of basic goods.
It is known that PT Pertamina (Persero) raised several non-subsidized fuel prices as of Saturday (April 18, 2026).
According to pricing information on the MyPertamina website, Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) surged significantly from Rp13,100 per liter to Rp19,400 per liter.
Dexlite also increased from Rp14,200 per liter to Rp23,600 per liter, while Pertamina Dex rose from Rp14,500 per liter to Rp23,900 per liter.
Meanwhile, the price of Pertamax (RON 92) remains unchanged at Rp12,300 per liter. Similarly, Pertalite is still priced at Rp10,000 per liter, and Pertamina Biosolar remains at Rp6,800 per liter. (nas)
