INDOPOSCO.ID – The first day of the School Environment Orientation Program (MPLS) at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday (July 13, 2026), was interrupted following a suspected bomb threat sent via a private message to one of the school’s teachers.
As a precautionary measure, police evacuated all students, teachers, and school staff from the premises while authorities responded to the incident.
The incident drew a response from Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Atip Latipulhayat, who condemned the act, saying it had created fear within an educational environment, particularly at the beginning of the new academic year when students are adjusting to school.
According to Atip, schools must remain safe, secure, and conducive spaces for learning. He said any threat that disrupts the educational process is unacceptable.
“I deeply regret this act of terror targeting a school. Schools are places that we all have a shared responsibility to protect in order to ensure safety and peace during the teaching and learning process. We strongly condemn those responsible for this irresponsible act,” Atip said.
He added that the government has entrusted law enforcement authorities with investigating the suspected bomb threat and identifying those responsible.
Atip also urged the school to temporarily suspend all MPLS activities until the competent authorities confirm that the situation is completely safe. He said the measure is intended to protect students, teachers, and the entire school community.
“We fully entrust this matter to the relevant authorities for investigation. We also ask the school to temporarily suspend the orientation program until there is assurance that the situation is completely safe,” he added.
As of Monday, police were continuing their investigation and security assessment at the school to ensure the area was fully secure before teaching and learning activities resume. (her)
