INDOPOSCO.ID — Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office has revealed an alleged scheme involving three suspects in a corruption case related to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, who allegedly earned billions of rupiah per day through Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) affiliated with them.
“Approximately Rp6 million per unit per day,” said Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation at the Office of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, in Jakarta on Friday (June 5, 2026).
The money came from operational incentives distributed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to each Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), which serves as a kitchen operator for the Free Nutritious Meals program.
According to investigators, the funds were intended specifically for kitchen rental costs, equipment rental, and operational support, rather than as direct profits for managers.
The Attorney General’s Office is still calculating the total state losses resulting from the alleged misconduct.
“There is certainly a loss to the state. The amount is currently being calculated, but losses definitely exist,” Syarief said.
The three suspects are former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and former Deputy Heads of BGN Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung.
Investigators found what they described as a conflict of interest in the management of MBG kitchens. The program was originally intended to be managed by foundations associated with individual schools.
However, prosecutors allege that several MBG kitchen partners were connected to the three former BGN officials. According to Syarief, the affiliated foundations received substantial commissions.
“These foundations received incentives amounting to billions of rupiah every day, and some of those foundations were affiliated with or owned by DH, SS, and LP,” he said.
The suspects have been charged under Articles 603 and 604 in conjunction with Article 20 of Law No. 31 of 1999 and Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Code.
They have been detained for an initial period of 20 days at Salemba Detention Center facilities operated by the Attorney General’s Office and the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office, Syarief added. (dan)
