INDOPOSCO.ID – The Metro Jaya Regional Police are reviewing CCTV footage from around the scene of an acid attack on human rights activist Andrie Yunus in an effort to identify the perpetrators. The incident occurred on Thursday night (June 12, 2026).
Metro Jaya Police Director of General Criminal Investigation Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin said investigators are examining surveillance recordings from the suspects’ point of departure to their possible escape routes and hiding locations.
“We have collected footage from 86 surveillance camera points related to locations where the suspected perpetrators are believed to have departed from and returned to,” Iman said in Jakarta on Monday (March 16, 2026).
He explained that the footage was gathered from dozens of cameras owned by government agencies—namely the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system, the Communications and Information Office (Diskominfo), and the Transportation Agency—along with additional CCTV recordings submitted by local residents.
“There are seven CCTV points from the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system,” Iman said.
“In addition, 27 camera points were obtained from Diskominfo, eight from the Transportation Agency, and 44 CCTV recordings were provided by residents,” he added.
However, investigators have not yet taken coercive legal measures as they continue to focus on establishing legal facts through analysis of CCTV footage and communication network data.
“As of today, we have not taken any coercive measures. We are still building legal facts based on CCTV analysis and communication network data we have obtained,” said the former South Tangerang Police Chief.
Police have upgraded the acid attack case involving KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus to the formal investigation stage. Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Roby Hery Saputra confirmed the development.
“Yes, it has moved to the investigation stage,” Roby said separately when contacted by reporters in Jakarta on Saturday (March 14, 2026).
Andrie Yunus reportedly suffered burns covering 24 percent of his body, including severe injuries to the face, chest, both arms, and the eye area. (dan)
