INDOPOSCO.ID – Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast rain of varying intensity across nearly all major cities nationwide on Friday (Feb. 6, 2026).
“Heightened vigilance is needed for the potential of heavy to very heavy rainfall in West Java, Central Java, Papua, and Papua Highlands,” BMKG forecaster Puji Sibuea said during an online weather briefing monitored from Jakarta on Friday (Feb. 6, 2026).
BMKG specifically forecast overcast conditions in Banda Aceh, Padang, and Jambi, with light rain likely in Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung.
Across Java, all provincial capitals are expected to see light rain, including Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya.
Rain is also forecast across Kalimantan, with light showers expected at times in Pontianak, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, and Tanjung Selor, Puji said.
In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, rainy conditions are also predicted, including light rain in Denpasar and Mataram, while Kupang may experience thunderstorms.
For Sulawesi, light rain is expected in Palu, Gorontalo, and Kendari, while moderate rainfall is forecast for Manado, Mamuju, and Makassar.
Rain is likewise expected at times in major cities across eastern Indonesia, including light rain in Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya, with moderate rain possible in Ternate and Merauke. (aro)
