INDOPOSCO.ID – A solemn atmosphere marked the opening of the MediaMIND 2026 outreach event at the University of Indonesia, organized by ANTAM. Before the event began, journalists, academics, and students in attendance observed a moment of silence and joined in prayer for five journalists and crew members who remain missing and are still being searched for by the SAR Team in waters around Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait.
As of Friday (Sept. 11, 2026), the Joint Search and Rescue (SAR) Team was continuing its fourth day of search operations, deploying personnel and various search vessels. The missing journalists are from several media outlets: M. Bagus Khoirunnas of ANTARA, Ari Basuki of Merdeka.com, Yudistiro Pranoto of iNews, Firman Daus of Anadolu Agency, and Donal Husni, a freelance journalist. The Joint SAR Team continues to conduct the search operation.
The moment of silence and joint prayer was held as a gesture of respect for the journalists who were carrying out their professional duties in the field.
For MIND ID, journalists play an important role in providing accurate information while also contributing to the country’s development.
MIND ID Department Head of Corporate Communications Pratiwa Dyatmika said the entire MIND ID family was praying for a smooth search operation and for the missing journalists to be found as soon as possible.
“Today, together with our fellow journalists and students, we began the event by observing a moment of silence and praying together. Amid the spirit of sharing ideas and knowledge through MediaMIND, we also want to demonstrate our concern and solidarity with our fellow journalists who are still being searched for,” Pratiwa said.
According to Pratiwa, journalists are important partners in delivering information that affects the public and in helping broaden public understanding of various national development issues.
“We understand that journalism often requires great courage and dedication. Therefore, MIND ID holds journalists in high regard as they continue to carry out their duties to provide information to the public. Our prayers are with the ongoing search operation and with the families who are currently waiting for good news,” he said.
Pratiwa added that MIND ID would continue to maintain close collaboration with the press as an important partner in delivering information about development to the public.
Through MediaMIND, MIND ID seeks to create a collaborative platform for journalists, academics, and the business community to support the production of works that benefit society and Indonesia’s development.
The sixth edition of MediaMIND carries the theme “From the Earth for the Sovereignty of the Nation,” featuring six subthemes relevant to developments in Indonesia’s mining industry: Economy and Investment; ESG & Green Mining; Downstreaming, Industrialization, and Indonesia’s Mineral Resilience; Social Contribution to Communities; and Transformation and Innovation.
Through these themes and subthemes, participants are expected to produce works that are not only informative but also offer new perspectives on the role of Indonesia’s mineral resources in supporting economic development, strengthening national industries, and shaping the country’s future.
MediaMIND 2026 officially kicked off on Aug. 1, 2026. Eligible entries must have been published between Sept. 15, 2025, and Sept. 17, 2026.
The submission deadline for the journalist category is Sept. 17, 2026, while submissions for the general public, academics, and observers categories remain open until Oct. 25, 2026.
