INDOPOSCO.ID – Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission III has taken a new step in overseeing the handling of an alleged corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah.
The commission has officially established a Law Enforcement Oversight Working Committee (Panja) to ensure that the entire investigative process proceeds transparently and is not halted midway.
The decision was made following Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation from the Attorney General’s Office. According to Commission III, the resignation of a public official must not become grounds for slowing down or obstructing an ongoing legal process.
Amid the formation of the working committee, legal proceedings against Febrie Adriansyah continue.
The Indonesian National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) has reportedly named the former Jampidsus as a suspect in three alleged corruption cases, involving the coal sector, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel.
Commission III Chair Habiburokhman reaffirmed the DPR’s commitment to monitoring the investigation until legal certainty is achieved.
“Commission III of the House of Representatives is fully committed to overseeing this case through to completion and ensuring legal certainty by establishing an oversight team in the form of a Working Committee.
The resignation of the former Jampidsus must not weaken or halt the ongoing law enforcement process,” Habiburokhman said during a press conference at the Nusantara I Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday (July 11, 2026).
Through the Working Committee, Commission III will exercise its oversight function over the handling of the case by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office. The DPR aims to ensure that every stage of the investigation complies with applicable laws and remains subject to public scrutiny.
The commission also emphasized the importance of maintaining strong cooperation among law enforcement institutions. According to the DPR, effective anti-corruption efforts require solid coordination and should not be disrupted by potential institutional friction or conflicts.
At the same press conference, the DPR called on the Attorney General’s Office to establish an independent investigative team to ensure that the case is handled objectively. The team is expected to consist of personnel who have no relationship or affiliation with the individual under investigation.
“Commission III also requests that the Attorney General’s Office establish an independent investigative team to examine the case allegedly involving Mr. FA, consisting of officials who are free from any affiliation with him,” Habiburokhman stated.
Habiburokhman explained that the Working Committee will directly oversee every development in the investigation. Its oversight will cover various stages of the process, including searches, inspections of evidence storage facilities, and other investigative measures carried out by investigators.
He added that all oversight activities would be conducted openly so that the public can monitor the progress of the case.
“All oversight activities will be conducted transparently so that the public can follow the progress of the investigation,” he said.
During the Commission III meeting, all parliamentary factions approved the establishment of the Law Enforcement Oversight Working Committee.
The forum also appointed Habiburokhman as chair of the committee, which will lead the DPR’s oversight of the investigation conducted by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps and the Attorney General’s Office. (her)
