INDOPOSCO.ID – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has rejected a gratification report filed by Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni regarding an envelope he received from Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby.
“The KPK has rejected RJ’s (Raja Juli’s) gratification report,” KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin told reporters in Jakarta on Friday (July 17, 2026).
Aminudin said the report was rejected because, under prevailing regulations, the matter had already entered the investigation stage.
“Under KPK Regulation (Perkom) No. 1/2026 on Gratification Reporting, the KPK rejects gratification reports if the reported gratification has already become the subject of an inspectorate examination, preliminary inquiry, or criminal investigation by law enforcement authorities,” he said.
Raja Juli’s name emerged in connection with an alleged bribery and gratification case involving the release of Limited Production Forest (HPT) land, which has implicated Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby.
Suhardiman was officially named a suspect and detained by the KPK after being arrested in a sting operation (OTT) in late June 2026. The case involves alleged bribery in the appointment of the regional secretary (Sekda) and the processing of permits for the release of Limited Production Forest (HPT) areas.
Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni previously confirmed that he met with Suhardiman Amby at the Ministry of Forestry office in Jakarta on June 2, 2026. During the meeting, Suhardiman allegedly left behind an envelope suspected to contain cash.
“During the meeting, it turned out that the Regent of Kuansing left an envelope inside a folder,” Raja Juli said separately at the ministry’s office in Jakarta on July 3, 2026.
He said he only became aware of the envelope after Suhardiman had left the meeting. Raja Juli then instructed his aide to return it.
“I did not know what was inside, but I believed I had no right to accept the envelope. So I instructed my aide to return it,” he said.
The envelope was not returned immediately due to logistical constraints. After about a week, Raja Juli’s aide eventually met Suhardiman on June 12, 2026, with facilitation from the Riau Police Chief.
Raja Juli Antoni later reported both the receipt and rejection of the envelope as a gratification report to the KPK on July 3, 2026. The report concerned the envelope allegedly given by former Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby. (dan)
