INDOPOSCO.ID – Police have disclosed the sequence of events surrounding a suspected bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, during the school’s School Environment Orientation Program (MPLS) ceremony on Monday (July 13, 2026).
South Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Section Chief AKP Joko Adi Wibowo said the threat was sent by an unidentified individual to the school via the WhatsApp messaging application.
“At 6:45 a.m. WIB, the Jagakarsa Police Chief received information that one of the teachers had received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number stating that ‘within a few minutes SDN 15 Pagi will explode,'” Joko Adi said when contacted by phone in Jakarta on Monday.
Following the report, police officers immediately went to the school and coordinated with school officials to respond to the situation.
“At 7:30 a.m. WIB, Jagakarsa Police Chief Commissioner Nurma and officers arrived at the location and immediately coordinated with the school administration,” Joko Adi said.
Classroom activities were subsequently suspended, and all students were evacuated from the school.
“At 9:00 a.m. WIB, students and their parents were calmly evacuated from the school grounds and advised to return home,” he added.
The Bomb Disposal Unit (Jibom) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Mobile Brigade (Gegana) later conducted a thorough search of the school premises. According to police, no explosive devices were found, and the area was declared safe.
“At 9:25 a.m. WIB, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Team arrived at the scene and carried out a sweep in response to the reported threat,” Joko Adi said. (dan)
