INDOPOSCO.ID – The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has launched an investigation into an alleged extortion case involving a member of the House of Representatives (DPR), Ahmad Sahroni, who was reportedly targeted by individuals posing as officers from Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The report was filed on Thursday night (April 9, 2026) after the victim claimed to have been extorted by the perpetrators.
Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, Budi Hermanto, confirmed the report in a statement in Jakarta on Friday (April 10, 2026).
“The report concerns threats and extortion allegedly committed by individuals impersonating officials from a public institution linked to case handling,” Budi said.
Sahroni decided to report the incident after complying with the suspects’ demand, handing over approximately Rp300 million.
“The amount extorted from the victim was Rp300 million, which prompted him to file a report with Polda Metro Jaya,” said Budi.
Authorities have urged the public to give investigators the necessary time and space to thoroughly examine the extortion case involving Sahroni.
“We also ask all parties to allow investigators sufficient time to fully analyze this information,” added Budi.
Previously, a joint team from the KPK and Polda Metro Jaya arrested four individuals on Thursday (April 9, 2026) night for allegedly impersonating KPK officers. The suspects claimed they could influence case handling within the anti-graft agency.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the arrests, noting that authorities also seized evidence in the form of USD 17,400.
“The suspects were apprehended in West Jakarta,” Budi Prasetyo said in a statement on Friday. (dan)
