INDOPOSCO.ID – The Metro Jaya Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate revealed that suspects in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus fled in two different directions—toward South Jakarta and East Jakarta.
“Following the incident, our team traced the suspects, who escaped in different directions,” said Metro Jaya Police Director of General Criminal Investigation Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (March 16, 2026).
Iman explained that one motorcycle fled against traffic along Salemba Street toward Senen. From Senen, the suspects continued to Kramat Raya Street, then to the Tugu Tani area before heading toward Gondangdia Station.
“From Gondangdia they proceeded toward the South Jakarta area,” he said.
Meanwhile, another motorcycle did not turn back but continued straight toward Pramuka Sari II Street.
“It then headed to Matraman and was later monitored on CCTV moving toward the Jatinegara area, before continuing to Otto Iskandardinata Street in East Jakarta,” he added.
Iman also stated that the suspects had been following the victim since he left the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Jakarta, located on Pangeran Diponegoro Street, Pegangsaan, Central Jakarta.
“The suspects began tailing the victim after he finished an event at the YLBHI office,” Iman said, as quoted by Antara.
He added that the victim did not immediately head to the crime scene but stopped first to refuel at a gas station on Cikini Raya Street.
According to Iman, medical examinations showed that the victim suffered chemical trauma and burn injuries to the face, arms, torso, and other limbs.
“We hope the victim will recover soon. Let us all pray for his speedy recovery so he can return to his daily activities,” he said. (aro)
