INDOPOSCO.ID – The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that most major cities in Indonesia are expected to experience light rain on Sunday (November 23, 2025). Other areas may see thunderstorms, moderate rain, or dense cloud cover.
BMKG forecaster Henokhvita, in a statement delivered in Jakarta on Sunday, explained that on the island of Sumatra, light rain is expected in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, and Tanjung Pinang. Meanwhile, Padang is predicted to receive moderate rain.
“Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung also have the potential for light rain, while Jambi and Bengkulu may experience moderate rain,” he said.
For the island of Java, dense cloud cover is expected in Yogyakarta. Light rain may occur in Semarang, while Jakarta is forecasted to see moderate rainfall. Henokhvita also warned of potential lightning and thunderstorms in Serang, Bandung, and Surabaya.
“In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Kupang is predicted to be densely cloudy, while Denpasar and Mataram may experience light rain,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Kalimantan, light rain is expected in Samarinda and Palangka Raya. Thunderstorms may affect Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, and Banjarmasin.
For the Sulawesi region, light rain is likely in Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, and Kendari. Makassar is advised to be vigilant for potential thunderstorms.
“In eastern Indonesia, Manokwari is predicted to experience dense cloud cover, while Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Nabire, Jayawijaya, Jayapura, and Merauke may see light rain,” he explained.
BMKG also urged residents in Mataram, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, and Kupang to be cautious of high temperatures, which are forecasted to reach 32–34 degrees Celsius, especially for those engaging in outdoor activities.
