INDOPOSCO.ID – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that most cities across Indonesia are expected to experience light rain on Friday (March 6, 2026).
BMKG weather forecaster Masayu F said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday (March 6, 2026) that light rain is likely in Padang, Pekanbaru, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung, as well as most areas of Java and Kalimantan, along with Kupang, Makassar, Kendari, Mamuju, Palu, Ternate, Ambon, Jayapura, and Merauke.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms are expected in Banjarmasin, while heavy rain is forecast in Yogyakarta. Thick cloud cover is also predicted over Banda Aceh, Medan, and Tanjung Pinang.
“For eastern Indonesia, moderate rain is expected in Denpasar, Manado, Nabire, and Jayawijaya,” Masayu said.
She also noted that ongoing atmospheric dynamics are contributing to significant weather potential in several regions of Indonesia.
Therefore, she urged the public to increase preparedness for the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the provinces of Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara. (aro)
