INDOPOSCO.ID – Acting (Pj) Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), KH Zulfa Mustofa, appointed through a plenary meeting in Jakarta, began his first day in office by holding an online consolidation meeting with PBNU central executives, regional boards, branch leaders across Indonesia, as well as representatives of NU’s special overseas branches.
In an official statement released in Jakarta on Saturday (December 13, 2025), Kiai Zulfa also confirmed a visit to the NU Regional Board (PWNU) of Banten to directly review progress on the construction of an NU university. He emphasized that the wheels of the Nahdlatul Ulama organization are now back on track.
“NU has returned to normal, is in a healthy condition, and is ready to continue its service,” Kiai Zulfa said.
During the agenda titled Socialization of PBNU Plenary Meeting Decisions, Kiai Zulfa underlined that he has formally received the mandate to lead the organization. He therefore called on all NU officials to close ranks and unite in carrying out their duties of service to NU members and the wider Indonesian public.
“I understand that there may have been doubts at the grassroots level regarding the plenary meeting’s decision to appoint me. Hopefully, any uncertainty that arose will now be resolved, because what matters most is clarity and certainty for the community and NU administrators,” he said.
As further proof that the organization is functioning normally, Kiai Zulfa outlined a series of follow-up consolidation visits. After Banten, he is scheduled to travel to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to meet with regional and branch leaders across the province.
The next stops will include West Sumatra, Aceh, and North Sumatra, during which PBNU will also directly distribute Rp2 billion in disaster relief funds collected through the plenary meeting.
“This step shows that PBNU is not preoccupied solely with internal conflict issues that often surface on social media. NU has returned to normal,” he stressed.
Addressing NU officials, Kiai Zulfa also presented the organization’s strategic agenda going forward, including the organization of a major PBNU conference combined with the commemoration of NU’s first century based on the Gregorian calendar. The event is scheduled to take place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on January 31, 2026.
He said he has appointed Khofifah Indar Parawansa as chair of the organizing committee for the event, which is expected to be attended by NU officials from the central level down to grassroots branches nationwide.
On the institutional front, in line with recommendations from the PBNU plenary meeting, Kiai Zulfa reaffirmed his commitment to immediately address key administrative issues, particularly the issuance and legal validity of decrees (SK) for regional and branch-level management.
“I am committed to ensuring there are no delays in issuing decrees, because this directly affects services to the ummah,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
The acceleration of institutional restructuring also aligns with the plenary meeting’s mandate to expedite the implementation of the NU congress (muktamar). Kiai Zulfa said he would safeguard this mandate to ensure a clean and dignified congress. (aro)
