INDOPOSCO.ID – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has condemned an incident involving an employee of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Bantul who mocked students who fell ill after consuming meals provided under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, with two victims reportedly experiencing temporary memory loss.
The students were Febiona Purba and Agnesia Paruliana Silitonga, both from Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The two were previously reported to have suffered memory loss following suspected food poisoning linked to the MBG program.
“The remarks made by the SPPG employee are deeply regrettable. Let us work together to maintain a safe and welcoming public space for everyone. Children must not become victims of bullying,” Gibran said in a post on his personal Instagram account, @gibran_rakabuming, in Jakarta on Monday (Sept. 21, 2026).
Gibran said the two students had recovered and returned home after receiving treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Jakarta since mid-September.
“Agnesia and Febiola have now returned to their respective homes in Karo Regency and will return to school,” Gibran said.
Febiona Purba and Agnesia Paruliana Silitonga were referred to Jakarta and treated at RSCM at Gibran’s request after suffering health problems following the MBG food poisoning incident in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.
Meanwhile, the mocking video was posted on Sunday (Sept. 20, 2026) on the personal Instagram account of an SPPG employee identified as Gerardus Permanaditya. In the post, Gerardus parodied himself eating allegedly stale chicken katsu while claiming that it still tasted good and that he did not suffer food poisoning.
In the same post, Gibran was seen apologizing while visiting victims of the MBG food poisoning incident in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, on Sept. 11, 2026. He also assured them that all medical expenses would be covered by the state. (dan)
