INDOPOSCO.ID – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the country’s readiness to deploy at least 8,000 troops to participate in a peace mission in Gaza, Palestine, by joining the International Stabilization Force (ISF).
Prabowo made the statement during the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP), attended by U.S. President Donald Trump and other world leaders in Washington, D.C., on Thursday (Feb. 19, 2026) local time.
“The achievement of this ceasefire is real. We commend it, and therefore we reaffirm our commitment to contribute a significant number of troops — up to 8,000 personnel or more if required,” President Prabowo said, as broadcast live on the White House’s official account and monitored from Jakarta early Friday (Feb. 20, 2026).
The President stated that Indonesia is prepared to deploy thousands of personnel to take an active role in the ISF international stabilization mission.
In his remarks, Prabowo said Indonesia had, from the outset, carefully studied and fully supported the peace initiative introduced by President Trump. He emphasized that Indonesia’s decision to join the BoP is aimed at advancing peace in Gaza, Palestine.
“Indonesia fully agrees and is strongly committed to this plan. That is why we joined the Board of Peace. We are committed to its success. We understand there will be many obstacles and challenges, but we remain very optimistic,” Prabowo stressed.
According to an official statement, the President’s attendance at the inaugural BoP meeting underscores Indonesia’s commitment to playing an active role in establishing and strengthening the Board of Peace framework as a transitional international mechanism mandated under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025).
Indonesia has expressed readiness to contribute through the ISF under a clear mandate and agreed operational parameters, in line with international law and Indonesia’s national caveats, as reported by Antara.
Indonesia also supports long-term reconstruction and stabilization efforts in Gaza while continuing to respect the rights of the Palestinian people and the vision of a Two-State Solution. (aro)
