INDOPOSCO.ID – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that Tehran will strike American military bases in the Persian Gulf region if the United States launches an attack.
“If Washington attacks us, there is no possibility of targeting US territory, but we will strike their bases in this region,” Araghchi said during the Al Jazeera Forum on Saturday (February 7, 2026).
He stressed that such measures would not involve attacks on neighboring countries.
Araghchi also addressed the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, which concluded on Friday (February 7) in Oman after weeks of heightened tensions following US President Donald Trump’s threats of military action against Tehran.
The Iranian minister noted that a second round of nuclear talks has not yet been scheduled. However, both Tehran and Washington have agreed that a follow-up meeting should take place as soon as possible.
Furthermore, Araghchi stated that Iran will not export enriched uranium abroad.
“The enrichment level depends on Iran’s needs, and enriched uranium will not leave the country,” he said, as reported by Sputnik/RIA Novosti via Antara.
He also emphasized that Iran will not discuss its missile program, now or in the future, as it is a matter of national defense. (aro)
