INDOPOSCO.ID – Indonesia national futsal player Wendy Brian Ick stressed that the Garuda squad feels as if they are playing at home in the AFC Futsal 2026 final, fueling their determination to give everything to avoid defeat in front of their own supporters.
Indonesia will face Iran’s national futsal team in the AFC Futsal 2026 final on Saturday night (February 7, 2026). The decisive clash will take place at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Central Jakarta, later this evening.
“There is no special personal motivation for me or my teammates. I think this is our home, and we don’t want to lose on our own ground,” Brian Ick said in Jakarta on Saturday (February 7, 2026).
He added that he does not feel any pressure, noting that this marks the first time Indonesia have reached the final of the AFC Futsal tournament.
“In terms of pressure, I don’t think there is any, because this is the first time Indonesia have made it to the final. So I feel there is no pressure at all,” Brian Ick said.
Indonesia head coach Hector Souto is also approaching the AFC Futsal 2026 final with full confidence. He assured that his players will perform freely without any burden.
According to Souto, Indonesia’s debut appearance in the final is actually an advantage, as the pressure should be on their opponents. Given Iran’s dominant record in Asian futsal, it is Iran who carry the heavier responsibility to maintain their reputation.
Statistics show that Iran have lost only four times in 105 AFC matches. “How can we feel pressure if this is our first time in the final? And if Iran have played 105 matches in the AFC and only lost four,” Souto explained.
“Where is the pressure on us? How can you see that pressure? Iran should be the ones feeling it,” he added.
Indonesia were drawn into Group A at the AFC Futsal 2026. The Garuda squad delivered an impressive performance, sweeping all their matches in the group stage before defeating Japan 5–3 in the semifinals on February 5, 2026. The emphatic result secured Indonesia’s historic place in the final. (dan)
