INDOPOSCO.ID – President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his condolences over the death of renowned Indonesian artist and senior politician Mohammad Guruh Irianto Soekarnoputra on Saturday (Sept. 26, 2026). The youngest son of Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, died at MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi in South Jakarta.
Prabowo conveyed his condolences in an Instagram Stories post on his personal account, @prabowo, featuring a sketch of the late Guruh accompanied by a message of condolence.
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raaji’uun. I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Mohammad Guruh Irianto Soekarno Putra,” Prabowo wrote on his personal Instagram account on Saturday (Sept. 26, 2026).
Mohammad Guruh Irianto Soekarnoputra was born on Jan. 13, 1953. He was widely known as a maestro of the arts, cultural figure, and senior Indonesian politician. He was the youngest child of Indonesia’s first president, Ir. Sukarno, and Fatmawati.
Guruh, the younger brother of Indonesia’s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, died at MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi in Jakarta on Saturday morning local time (Sept. 26, 2026).
The news of Guruh Soekarnoputra’s death was confirmed by PDI-P Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto. The youngest son of Indonesia’s first president died at the age of 73.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa’afihi wa’fuanhu. Mohammad Guruh Irianto Sukarnoputra bin Sukarno has returned to the mercy of Allah,” Hasto said in a separate written statement on Saturday (Sept. 26, 2026).
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) expressed its profound sorrow over Guruh Soekarnoputra’s passing, remembering him as a public figure known for his deep artistic spirit and his interpretation of Sukarno’s teachings.
“The PDI-P family has truly lost Mas Guruh Soekarnoputra. He will be remembered as a great artist, a Marhaenist, and a party activist,” Hasto said. (dan)
