INDOPOSCO.ID – Indonesia’s Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the country on Monday (Feb. 16, 2026).
BMKG forecaster Bintari, speaking in a weather outlook broadcast monitored via the agency’s YouTube channel in Jakarta on Monday morning, said heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, Lampung, and Banten.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, North Sulawesi, Papua, and Highland Papua,” she said.
BMKG urged the public to remain vigilant for the potential of heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of Indonesia in the coming days.
Bintari added that moderate to heavy rainfall is also forecast in other regions categorized under a weather advisory.
In western Indonesia, thunderstorms are expected in Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Yogyakarta, and Banjarmasin.
“Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is likely in Medan, Bengkulu, Serang, Jakarta, and Bandung,” she said.
Light rain is forecast in Banda Aceh, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Semarang, Surabaya, Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Palangkaraya.
In eastern Indonesia, moderate rainfall is expected in Gorontalo, Manado, Ternate, and Jayawijaya, while light rain is likely in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Ambon, most parts of Sulawesi, and most parts of Papua.
BMKG warned residents to stay alert for extreme weather conditions that may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds, as well as secondary impacts such as flooding, inundation, and fallen trees, as reported by Antara.
